Blackwater

I've been living here so long
The land feels part of me
And this river runs right by the shores
Of my identity
It's the source of where I'm going
And what I will become
In the landscape of my soul
The cool Blackwater runs

In spring it rushes fretfully
The banks all swollen wide
Fed from all the melting snow
On Kearsarge mountainside
In summer it meanders
'Til winter's freeze has won
The many moods are like my own
Where the cool blackwater runs

Sometimes I like the city life
But it's good to drive away
And pin my hopes on being here
To live another day
So river keep on flowing
Beyond the setting sun
For I prefer to spend my days
Where the cool black water runs
